D7000 Configuration Worksheet and Installation Guide.2Insert Username Here HOW TO USE THESE WORKSHEETS - READ THIS FIRST !! With this worksheet you can record the configuration settings for your Nikon D7000. The tabs and menus are arranged in such a way that they correspond as closely as possible to the Nikon D7000. This creates a logical flow and makes it much easier to follow. The purpose of this worksheet is to use it as a learning tool to better understand your Nikon D7000 and to document the settings changes made in the menu system. It usually works best if you have the spreadsheet open with your camera and the user manual in front of you. Use it anyway that works best for you. Many photographers use preset "sets" as the basis for different types of shots. I've included in this worksheet the ability to set 4 such settings (2 of which can be saved to the D7000 at any time in the U1, U2 positions - additional "sets" can also be saved to memory cards and if need to be loaded). The 4 sets are: "Travel & Scenery", "Portrait & Wedding", "Sports & Action" and "Aim & Shoot". However, the user can customize any of these categories according to his/her recording preferences ("User Defined" option) .

Select a cell and you can choose an option for that function from a drop-down list specific to that function. Note the drop-down arrows on the right when you select this cell ---> When you select a drop-down menu that is not the default, the setting will be highlighted in light yellow. This makes it clear what you have changed and allows you to quickly scroll through the Nikon D7000's menu system to match your changes with the worksheet entries. Gridlines are disabled in these worksheets. You can turn them ON in Excel's Display Preferences pane, under "Window Options". Set up your menu choices using this worksheet. Then go to the camera (or Nikon Camera Control software) and set the camera menus to match the worksheet. The new Nikon Picture Controls are too complicated to integrate easily into the SHOOTING MENU sheet, so they have their own separate sheet. Nikon has made it possible to save the camera's adjusted settings to a memory card (and computer). You can then change the settings and return to your saved settings without trying to remember what you changed. But beware, the settings file will be erased if you format your memory card!

The original concept for this worksheet was developed on a Mac running NeoOffice 3.0.2. It has been tested on Windows Vista with Excel 2007. This fully revised and updated version was created in Excel (2004) for Mac, Vs.11.6.2. A version is available that is compatible with Apple's iWork - Numbers.

Please note that I have chosen to release this worksheet unlocked. This allows anyone to make changes to the worksheet as they see fit. However, be careful not to accidentally delete or change the cells containing the setup data or formulas. If you find errors or have suggestions, please email them to:[emailprotected]THE ADJUSTABLE SETTINGS SHOWN IN THIS WORKSHEET ARE ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY. THEY DO NOT CONSTITUTE A RECOMMENDATION BY THIS AUTHOR AS TO THEIR SUITABILITY FOR USE IN ANY PARTICULAR RECORDING SITUATION. YOU SHOULD EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR OWN SETTINGS TO DETERMINE WHAT SUITS YOU AND USE THIS WORKSHEET TO RECORD YOUR PREFERENCES

This NEW version is specific to the Nikon D7000. Developed from an earlier version, it was inspired by the work of Nikonians Don McVey and Scott Winders on the Nikon D300. This version 2.0 has been completely revised by Christopher Oldham (username "chroaz" at Nikonians.org). It has been significantly changed regarding content, formatting, programming and program functionality V2.1 Beta: Added New Tab U1 & U2 User Settings. minor menu changes V2.2.1: Added customizable "Shoot Type" headings to Shooting / Custom Settings Menu/ U1 & U2 tabs V2.2.2: Added Heading pop-up comments; typos corrected; minor menu and formatting changes/updates
